Smoked black opal is made from white Ethiopian opal. The white opals are wrapped in paper and placed in a fire. The smoke deposits from the fire turn the opal the beautiful smoky charcoal black color. The treatment is permanent and stable. As with all opals, smoked opal should be stored in a cool, slightly humid place and washed only with mild soap and warm water.

- Enjoy free and easy returns within 14 days of receiving your order for all ready-to-ship jewelry. Custom, made-to-order, and resized pieces cannot be returned (except in case of manufacturer's defect). Please read our full return policy on the Shipping & Returns page.
Each one of our pieces is lovingly packaged in a handmade custom velvet box in our signature berry color before shipping. To add a note with your package, simply email us with your order number and message immediately after placing your order.
