On a solo trip to Turkey in my 20s I was struck by the immense beauty of Istanbul and captivated by the exotic feel of the art, architecture - even the way the late afternoon light hit the cobblestone streets. I spent a fair amount of time in the grand bazaar wandering from stall to stall to admire the goods - especially the antiques, many of which felt ancient compared to even the oldest of American antiques.
The deep warmth of the hammered copper fixtures that abound in Turkey have become one of my favorite design features for the lived in, imperfect interest they add to pieces. In the Jasmine Collection I combined that finish with distinctively eastern colors in designs that are faintly reminiscent of Turkish arched doorways.
